Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Nicely's PBIS Program: L-I-O-N-S (Leadership, Integrity, respect for Ourselves & Others, Never give up, Service & Scholarship)
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Throughout this program, attention is focused on creating and sustaining primary (school-wide), secondary (classroom), and tertiary (individual) systems of support that improve lifestyle results for all youth by making targeted misbehavior less effective, efficient, and relevant, and desired behavior more functional.

At Nicely Elementary School, we take great pride in rewarding our students for their positive behavior and ensure that all students understand the types of behaviors we expect from our Golden LIONS. When students at Nicely Elementary School demonstrate one of our character traits, Leadership, Integrity, respect for Others & self, Never give up, and Service & Scholarship, they are praised and given a Golden LION card along with a paw print sticker. Half of their Golden LION card goes home with the student and the other half is displayed on our LIONS wall. Each month all of the students whom received a Golden LION card will then be entered into a drawing for their chance to win a prize. Two winners are chosen each month and their pictures are displayed on our LIONS wall for the next 30 days! During our school-wide assemblies, these students are recognized and rewarded in front of the whole school!

In the Cafeteria students are able to earn whole-classroom rewards for positive behavior such as extra recess, game time in the gym, movie, popcorn or hot chocolate party, talent show, etc.
Students really seem to be motivated by this and we just love to see the type of environment it creates in our building!
